      Using Voiceitt with Google Home or other smart assistants

      You can control Google Home, Apple Home Pod or any other smart assistant with Voiceitt.

      If you have an Amazon Alexa, please check out this video to learn about using Voiceitt with this device instead.

      How-to set it up:

      1. First, make sure you are in your Conversation dictionary.

        1. The Smart Home toggle was designed exclusively for use with Alexa. If you have any other Smart Assistant, you'll need to use the Conversation toggle. 

      2. Click the blue button in the left hand corner to access your scenarios. 
      3. Click on "Create Your Own" scenario.

      4. Type in a name for your scenario, such as “Smart Assistant” or “Smart Home" and choose an icon.

      5. Add your phrases.

        1. In the first box, write what what you would like to say. In this example, you would say "Play rock music." 

        2. In the second box, "Voiceitt will say", type “NAME OF SMART ASSISTANT, PHRASE." For example, "OK Google, what's the weather?"

      PRO TIP! Before you add the phrase, press “Listen” to play the phrase out loud and check that your Smart Assistant responds.

      • If the Smart Assistant doesn’t respond:

        • Try turning up the volume on your Voiceitt device, so the smart assistant can hear it.

        • Make sure you are in range of the smart assistant. It will not be able to hear Voiceitt if you are in a separate room from the device.

        • Change the spelling of the smart assistant’s name in the “What Voiceitt will say” box, so that the pronunciation sounds right. For example: Seeri instead of Siri.

      • If the Smart Assistant responds but doesn’t complete the task:

        • Try rewording the phrase

        • Change the phrase in the “What Voiceitt will say” box. Make sure to be specific! Which lights do you want to turn off? What’s the name of the speaker you want to play your music?

        • If you have a friend with standard speech, ask them to say some variations of the phrase directly to your smart assistant. Once they find one that works, use the same wording in Voiceitt.

      Some suggested phrases:

      If you only have a smart assistant:

      • What’s the weather?

      • Tell me a joke

      • What’s the time?

      If you have a Smart Speaker:

      • Play rock music

      • Turn on the news

      • Stop the music

      • Add bread to my shopping list
      • Set a timer for 30 minutes

      If your house is decked out with smart tech!

      • Porch light on / Bedroom light on / Lamp on

      • Go to [Channel] on my TV

      • Turn volume up

      • Turn on the crockpot
